About this product

Model: ae_v_dovetail_short

Compatible with most Sky-Watcher Celestron, Vixen, Orion and other mounts with Vixen-type saddles.

The 'Short' is from machined aluminium.

The 'Medium & 'Long' are from extruded aluminium.

Short Dovetail Bar

Especially handy for adding to scopes where you want a longer dovetail for balance, but the rings need to be closer together than the positions possible on the Medium dovetail, as the slots allow you to adjust the position.

2x 70mm long slots with a 10mm recess (perfect for socket head bolts)
1x 1/4-20 UNC Threaded Holes in the centre

Medium Dovetail Bar

21cm long
2x 1/4-20 UNC Threaded Holes - 30mm apart. 75mm / 105mm centres from one end of the dovetail. 105mm / 135mm centres from the other end of the dovetail.
2x 6.5mm clear holes on each end - centres 13mm in from the end.
2x adjustment screws on each end for adjusting cone error.

Long Dovetail Bar

33.5cm long
4x 1/4-20 UNC Threaded Holes - 65mm / 113mm / 173mm / 228 centres from one end of the dovetail. 105mm / 160mm / 220mm / 268mm centres from the other end of the dovetail.
2x 6.5mm clear holes on each end - centres 13mm in from the end.
2x adjustment screws on each end for adjusting cone error.

Purchased this to replace a SW bar that was used to mount a SY135/camera assembly. Looks identical to the SW item apart from the colour.

I needed a longer dovetail to achieve balance for my 'new' (2nd hand) refractor, but for various reasons didn't want to alter the spacing between the scope's rings - answer: a dovetail with long slots for maximum flexibility. Perfect.
I love dealing with FLO - the advice they're able to provide has always been useful and their delivery and returns setup is second to none.

The Astro essentials short bar is excellent, very solid and two long recessed slots to hide the cap heads. I only wish there was a longer version made in the same way in this range. Great value compared to other ranges.
