Optical Bench Test
At FLO, we check all our Askar telescopes on an optical bench before dispatch.
So you can be confident your telescope will have well-figured optics, negligible false colour and spherical aberration, and no astigmatism (the bane of any optical system!). Star shapes will be round, not triangular, oval or egg-shaped!
The Askar FMA230 is a highly versatile ED triplet telescope and camera lens.
The three-element, fully multicoated triplet design includes two ED lenses to enhance contrast and minimise chromatic aberration.
When used with the supplied 4-element 0.84x reducer/corrector, the FMA230 is a fast, 7-element, highly corrected, F4.6 wide-field astrograph.
Delivers sharp, high-contrast images when used with a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or astronomy-optimised imaging camera.
The smooth helical focuser, with M48x.75 thread, has the usual 55mm back-focus distance.
It is supplied with red anodised aluminium tube rings and a Vixen dovetail mounting plate.
The mounting rings, Vixen plate, and handle can be removed for use with a DSLR or mirrorless camera for handheld shooting, or when the camera is mounted to a tripod.
It also includes a convenient carrying handle that doubles as a mount for finders, guide scopes and a ZWO ASiair (all available separately).
The top of the handle is machined as an Arca-Swiss tripod plate, enabling you to ‘invert’ the scope and mount it easily on a photo tripod.
When used for visual astronomy at F5.5, the FMA230 also provides wonderful wide-field views. (It includes a 2" eyepiece adaptor plus extensions so can be used with both 2" and 1.25" diagonals).

I tried it for few days now and it was more than what I excepted, good quality, comes with tube rings for easy camera rotation, 2” filter thread with the reducer tube and more. Highly recommended for wide field astrophotography.
