Optical Bench Test
At FLO, we check all our Askar telescopes on an optical bench before dispatch.
So you can be confident your telescope will have well-figured optics, negligible false colour and spherical aberration, and no astigmatism (the bane of any optical system!). Star shapes will be round, not triangular, oval or egg-shaped!
The ASKAR FMA135 is a premium six-element 135mm ED lens that delivers superb results for astrophotography.
It also works as a premium finder or a compact ED refractor/guide scope.
The FMA135 has air-spaced, 30mm, apochromatic f/4.5 triplet optics with an ED lens to minimise chromatic aberration. This is optically matched to an integrated three-element field flattener. Together, they provide a fully illuminated image circle that covers sensor sizes up to APS-C.
The camera side of the FMA135 includes a standard M42x0.75 male thread for easy attachment to most astronomy cameras or T-rings. The instrument has a 55mm back focus.
The top tube ring, which acts as a light/dew shield, includes standard M28.5x0.6 female threads that accept 1.25” astronomical filters.
The body of the FMA135 includes a precise, rotatable focuser.
For straight-through observing with an eyepiece, a standard 1.25” adapter threads onto FMA optical tube.
The FMA135 also includes a mounting ring for use with standard Vixen-style dovetails.

This little scope gives great results photographically, and doubles as a small premium finderscope (a barlow must be added to extend backfocus). It's also ideal as a guidescope.
Askar FMA135 135 mm f/4.5 ED APO Astrograph Lens 09 September 2023 | Dougie
This tiny scope packets quite a punch as far as astrophotography is concerned. With the included field flattener fitted, I found that the stars were crisp and round to the edges with the ZWO585MC camera fitted. The build quality is excellent and was well packaged upon arrival. It would be great if I could buy a field flattener and reducer to make this scope even faster than the f4.5 rating. Well done Askar for making such an incredible compact telescope.

Yes, it really is a nice piece of kit giving a wide field of view and has a very smooth focuser.
Only 4 stars as the built in field flattener does not do a really good job at the edges of the FOV with my ASI 183MC camera.
Having said that it does give good results despite only being 30mm aperture
