Just a great experience all round really! I was looking for a light mount with guiding and dec tracking, I asked FLO for advice and they were happy to discuss and recommend this one. I ordered it and of course it arrived very quickly, just the usual 5* experience from FLO all round... The mount itself is exactly what I was after and gave me 4 minute exposures (guided) absolutely no problem. I use an external battery and ASIair alignment so the two main issues that I saw discussed online, the battery packs and the polar scope, I haven't looked at, although the polar scope cap does seem to ping off easily. But for my purposes, it's a small, light, perfectly accurate mount which handles a 61mm refractor and gear no problem at all and was up and running within an hour of opening the box.
Firstly,i would like to thank FLO for their usual superb delivery and service.I particularly appreciate the cloud guarantee which proved correct as i have had this GTI for week or so and last night was the first time i managed to test it as Edinburgh has been under severe cloud since i received this(Thanks FLO lol !!!) I have the HEQ5,Star adventurer and the original GTI(which the DEC screw stripped and have been unable to use it.)This was my excuse (so the boss said !) for me to upgrade.Even though i only got a couple of hours use last night,i got it aligned and tried my various lenses on my nikon d750 -no problem, almost right on the button every target.same for my Olympus OM1 and lenses.Am really hoping to get some serious stuff done over the next couple of days, but really impressed ang glad i got this.Perfect size, weight and easily portable. Now lets see if the wallet will stand a small refractor to go with it.Thanks FLO,expect me back soon !!
I have to say how exceptional the after sales service is from FLO. I purchased the full mount package, and received it within two days. What a great mount, and tripod it is.However, when using for the first time, a few days after receiving it, the polar scope red light wasn’t working. So the next day I contacted the team at FLO, about an hour later I got a reply. I was asked to carry out a few simple directions to make sure it wasn’t user error. I was told to try a software package that allows the red light to be illuminated, just in case there was an issue with SynScan. All the directions were followed, but the red light still wasn’t playing ball. An email was returned to FLO, and arrangements for collection were made. The collection was made on the Tuesday, FLI received the package Wednesday, I was emailed Thursday saying a new mount was being dispatched, I received it Friday. Now then, that’s customer service to the highest degree.I managed to get out again last night, polar scope red light working perfectly, so I was able to polar align. I tried 30 second exposures, with no star trailing, what a great mount, great price, great company.Next purchase is a Askar 71F Flat-Field ED Refractor, I’m saving my pennies, and I’ll be purchasing from FLO again in the very near future.Thank you FLO for you excellent service, keep up the good work👍.
Just received my Sky-watcher adventurer gti, which came very quickly indeed, well packaged. The Adventurer gti is well made for the price. The only problem that I found was that there was no latitude markings which made it very difficult to get my latitude right, but in the end I had to use a gauge to get the angle right, but other than that it's OK. Hope to use it tonight I hope.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional service I received from your company. I recently placed an order for the Skywatcher GTI mount only, and I was delighted to receive it within a mere 28 hours. Although I have yet to conduct a comprehensive nighttime test, my children have thoroughly enjoyed observing its movements within our living room.I highly recommend your company to anyone seeking reliable and efficient service.Thank you once again for your professionalism and prompt delivery.Sincerely,James.
This is more of a small equatorial mount than a star tracker as such. In many ways a big improvement on the original Star Adventurer as it now has drives in both axes and full goto capability just like it's larger siblings. Although the stated load carrying capacity is the same as the original model, the whole mount feels a lot more sturdy and can carry 5Kg far more realistically. Like all Skywatcher mounts it is well made and works as advertised. But these improvements do come at a price. The mount is significantly heavier and bulkier now, and has lost some of the instant readiness of the previous model which, after polar aligning, you just switch it to the desired tracking rate and it is ready to go - no eeternal equipment required. Switch the GTi on and it will do nothing until you connect either a handset (not supplied), a phone, tablet or computer, and run through the standard SW setup routine. Just like using a regular equatorial mount.I would say the GTi is more suited for use with a very small telescope, and for this it excels as a portable set up. But if you are just using a camera and 50mm lens to take images of constellations, and where goto is of no real advantage, then the original Star Adventurer with the optional EQ wedge is far more portable and 'grab and go'I own both models and use whichever one suits my needs at the time.
Ordered in morning received next day. Excellent piece of kit. Tried my RVO 80Ed on it, I wasn't happy with the weight. So ordered the Sky watcher evolux 62ed. Which will be here today, it's so easy to use a lot easier than my 250pds on the eq6 r. Just put it all in car and of to Westgate on sea beach. On another note can FLO start putting may contain cear skies . stickers. Many thanks excellent service.
I've been playing with some astrophotography for the past 2 years but always struggling with two things. The limitation of short exposure times and the inability to find some objects in the night sky. I'd almost bought the forerunner of this mount but knew it would only solve one of my problems. The new GTi with the SynScan/GoTo functionality means I now have no excuse not to get out in the cold nights and take lots of pictures. The manual was ok but vague in some of the descriptions about polar alignment - I reached out of FLO and they quickly sent me their own notes on this which were much better. Sorted.Excellent service!
I have found this mount to be well made and solid I heard some reports about movement in the dec axis but I have NOT found this on my mount, the only negative thing I found is the well known issue with the finder scope cover being A bit flimsy.comes off to easily.looks to track well and connect to the ASI Air easily.Far better than the Explore Scientific pmc 100
Ordered Monday morning, arrived Tuesday afternoon, first light that evening! Thanks FLO.
