I needed a cable to update my Nextstar hand controller for my ADX Celestron mount - Couldn't find the one I bought years ago. So0ught advice from the FLO people who siad the
Lynx Astro FTDI USB to serial adapter would do the job. Celestron Update Manager is programmed to look for a serial port on you PC/laptop. Computers have moved on since I bought my original cable back in the day. Serial connextion ports are a thing of the past these days. Sure enough the Celestron software looked for a serial port connected to the handset. After rebooting the handset and the laptop a couple of times I got the Celestron software to detect the cable on the USB port. The update all down loaded fine after that & worked fine. Nice one FLO!

At last after a break in the clouds I was able to attach this cable to my old AVX mount handset. Found there was no issues with cable, in fact I wished I did this years ago! Easy to use with the Celestron CPWI software. Highly recommended

I had been using a usb/com port adapter with a separate lead to connect to my celestron scope and kept getting mount disconnection issues. I tried this lynx lead and so far no problems at all. Simply connect to the handset and a usb port. No drivers needed.

I have an older Celestron Nexstar 8SE Telescope and have recently been struggling with alignments using my iPad as a controller. The scope gained a will of it’s own and stopped functioning properly, even after resetting the handset to factory, it just wouldn’t align as it had previously even when I reverted back to the handset control. After reading dozens of posts on various Astronomy forums, I decided to have a go at updating my Handset Firmware. My HC is an older V4 type with the ethernet type connection and bottom left ‘INFO’ button. After being given some expert advise from FLO I purchased this cable as recommended.

I use a Mac and because of COVID-19 lockdown, don’t have any access to a Windows PC so initially struggled to get the cable connecting to the scope. After spending more hours on the forums and asking more questions of FLO I eventually sorted out the problem by downloading two programs - HC Update and MC Update which I found at https://www.nexstarsite.com/Firmware.htm. I then downloaded a free trial copy of Parallels from https://www.parallels.com/uk/ which came with a copy of Windows 10 and took about 20 minutes to install onto my Mac. Once done, I plugged one end of the cable into the USB, the other into the HC and ran both programs, after less than 10 minutes I had a fully updated HC running V4:22 and MC V5:14 and my Telescope now appears to be slewing in all the right directions and works with my iPad.

The cable itself is really good quality and when I connected to my 2011 Mac running High Sierrra it was instantly recognised (Click on 'Apple/About this Mac/system report/usb' and look for a device labelled Future Technology.) it came in it’s own little black bubble envelope which will keep it stowed away nice and tidy so I don’t end up losing it amongst al the other cables I seem to have amassed over the years.

All in all, I can thoroughly recommend this cable if you’re looking for a simple way to update your firmware.

I use this to drive my Celestron CGEM mount from my laptop without problem. The USB end plugs into my laptop, while the other end (looking a bit like an ethernet plug, but with fewer connectors) plugs into the bottom of the CGEM handset. I believe some newer Celestron handsets have a USB socket instead, but mine has this older style serial socket, and for this the cable works exactly as advertised. I've used PHD2 and BackyardEOS to drive the scope, both of which I believe use the ASCOM drivers I've loaded onto the laptop. All works fine.
