Astro Essentials compression ring adapter for ed120
03 June 2024  |

Very happy with this adapter. The ed120 focuser is much maligned by a some reviewers but I've found with a bit of adjustment it works very well and the only bugbear was the horrible locking screw arrangement to secure the diagonal. This upgrade cures that problem completely and also makes it easy to turn the diagonal in the focuser for a better viewing angle quickly and safely if required. Thankyou FLO for your excellent service.

Much Better!

First thing I ordered after discovering my new Evostar 102 had a horrible grub screw holder as standard. Light, well made and provides a very solid grip - perfect.

The compression ring fell off after first use and lost it in the filed. Waste of money

Response:

We have sold hundreds of these and have nothing but positive reviews so it is dissapointing to see this negative review, particularly as you haven't contacted us first - we would've happily supplied you a replacement brass part.

For the record, these can only fall out if overtightened or not undone enough when not in use otherwise the brass will keep itself sprung into the recess.

I also cannot find a record of you purchasing one of these from us - are you sure it was this item that you had difficulty with?

Better than original

Bought because I was not happy with the one on the telescope, this one has a compression ring which makes an much better fit when using camera's costing hundreds of pounds.

Works a treat
10 January 2023  |

After a long search for the correct adapter I finally found this product, mainly thanks to the short description of it that FLO provided. I think some websites fail to describe these things properly and as a result probably miss out on business if a frustrated customer doesn't know specifically what to look for. I nearly gave up on the search but then I found this and it fits perfectly on my ED80. I think part of the problem is the name of the product (is it a visual back, an M56 adapter, or an adapter coupling as Takahashi seem to call it?). In any case this works much better than the one supplied with the telescope, which, due to the inadequate thumbscrews, was causing the diagonal to slip. This produce holds the diagonal and eyepiece very secure due to the compression ring and has the added bonus that it doesn't mark the nosepiece of any diagonals or eyepieces held by it. Recommended.

Essential accessory for SkyWatcher ED refractor
05 January 2023  |

I bought this to fit on my SkyWatcher 80mm ED refractor telescope. Nicely engineered accessory in a black, knurled finish. The compression ring grips my Baader 2" to 1.25" adaptor firmly without marking it. SkyWatcher should fit one of these as standard.
As always, a very efficient, trouble-free transaction with F.L.O.

Well made replacement for stock holder with set screws. Brass compression ring works great, no marring.

Well finished product, performance was of concern in certain situations.
30 October 2022  |

As in previous reviews a very well engineered product, very well finished and easy to fit.
For visual use I found no problem at all. but if used with a 2" nosepiece and a heavy camera, I did find rather susceptible to slip and tilt.
I did not feel confident that it would hold a camera securely.

Response:

The same is true with any compression ring fitting and a heavy camera payload - we always recommend a fully threaded train for imaging wherever possible.
