This pier extension is well made and a lovely addition to my rig. It makes life so much easier when setting up as I don’t need to break down the rig to level the tripod as I bought a 75mm round spirit level that sits in the bottom of the pier, happy days

Nicely machined, and built like a tank. Easy to put together too

Pros: Fits nicely onto ZWO tripod, beautifully machined, solid clamping mechanism and can be dismantled for travel. The base plate is flat and a good spot for a bubble level (need to buy separately). Apart from just lifting the scope away from tripod legs, the whole integrated system allows to disconnect and move the assembled scope and tripod much more easily if you don’t want to lug the whole rig in one piece into the garden. A very nice piece of kit.
Cons: None. Good value for money

Purchased my AM3 and TC40 Carbon tripod, all good but very early on it became apparent that my rig would clash with the tripod. Given that balancing is not an issue (with Harmonic mounts) I experimented with moving the OTA as far back as possible in the saddle. I had barely 1-2mm of clearance and any extra backfocus would eliminate that. In addition, whilst mount balance may not be an issue overall balance of the tripod is so this lead to a different concern even if I was now clearing (barely) the tripod legs.
Searching online and the forums lead to the understanding that a pier extension is ALWAYS required, it seems, for the AM3 & 5 mounts on the ZWO tripod.
No fault of FLO who have the least cost and weight solution and, as ever, well packed and promptly dispatched.
5 Stars to FLO but only 3 Stars to ZWO as not providing a mount, out the box, that is fit for purpose with their recommended tripod!

I purchased this extension to cater for a need to raise the height of my ZWO TC40 Tripod with AM3 mount/'scope combo in the hope that I could carry out visual observations without straining my back. It works a treat! Easy to fit and gives a very stable platform when in place. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the addition and it actually looks really business like atop the CF Tripod. Thanks to the FLO team for the usual excellent service and a prompt delivery.

This pier extension is solid, very stable, quick to install and disassembles compactly for storage. It integrates perfectly with my ZWO TC40 tripod. Only minor quibble is that for some altaz mount heads that sit close to the tripod, the lock levers on the PE160 can interfere with the azimuth movement. However, for equatorials and most other altaz mounts, there should be no problem. Thanks again to FLO for their advice and exemplary service!

Arrived quickly and well packaged. The Pier Extension is very well made. Quality materials well engineered. Easily fitted to and, removable from, the tripod but this does not negate the fitting or purpose. When attached tge connection is solid. FLO provided, as usual, an exemplary service.

This is a very strong pier despite being mostly air. It is very well made. I was surprised by how heavy it is especially considering it is designed for a carbon fibre mount. Hence 4* instead of 5*. Overall I am very pleased with it. Excellent service from FLO as usual.
