I was looking for a starter telescope, and the Ursa Major 80mm Dobsonian seemed to fit what I was looking for.
Arrived well packed. The very solid wooden base was easy to assemble with the provided screwdriver. When mounted, the telescope had very positive and smooth vertical adjustment and the rotating base could be easily locked in position. The mirrors were well collimated, but are provided with adjusting screws to allow realignment if required, unlike some other lower priced telescopes which have fixed collimation. The supplied eyepieces are good quality. Focusing is smooth and positive. One reasonably clear night I attempted some sky-watching and found the telescope a joy to use with clear crisp views of the lunar landscape, the Orion constellation and Jupiter with her four major moons. Then the clouds closed in again! I'm looking forward to getting a lot of enjoyment exploring the skies using the telescope for many years to come.
Bottom line is, for such a budget priced telescope, the Ursa Major 80mm appears to be very well made, and exceptionally good value for money.
