Askar 151PHQ Flat Field Quadruplet/Petzval APO Refractor

The Askar 151PHQ is a large aperture refractor telescope with an f/7 focal ratio (151mm aperture and 1057mm focal length) and an impressive claimed 60mm imaging circle.

The 151PHQ's imaging circle can cover large camera sensors, including full-frame and even medium format!

The triplet optics include two ED glass lenses that provide excellent control of chromatic aberrations. The additional fourth lens flattens the field). The 60 mm imaging circle has a fine spot diagram with minimal distortion of the peripheral stars and a central RMS radius of less than 2 microns.

When used with the optional 3" 0.7 x flat field reducer, the telescope speed increases to f/4.9 with an effective focal length of around 740 mm.

The 151PHQ is fitted with a sturdy CNC-machined 3.4" focuser with a long focus range and a payload of up to 8 kg. The Rack & Pinion focus mechanism is decoupled from the draw-tube bearing. This enables precise focusing, even at maximum load.

1.25" & 2" adapters and an M86 screw-on-fitting thread are included.

You can also fit a 2" star diagonal and eyepiece (not included) for wide-field or high-magnification visual astronomy.

The multifunctional handle features a central slot with M6 screw fittings.

It also includes CNC-machine tube rings and a Losmandy-type dovetail plate.

Excellent scope

What a lovely scope for astrophotography. For various reasons needed to swap out my Edge scope for something similar and have not regretted the change. Very good for planets and Moon especially when using 715 camera. Not many chances to use for deep sky due to typical winter weather but initial tests very impressed. Seems to match up very well with 585 camera.
Build quality excellent and looks very nice. Easy focuser fix (ZWO EAF) and now wanting some decent spells of clear weather to push it
