Suitable for telescopes with focal-ratios f/5 or longer and 2" focuser.
I’ve owned one of these before and regretted selling it. It gives excellent, sharp wide field views and is relatively light. Ok, the contrast isn’t as good as a top end eyepiece but sometimes chasing that little extra quality can be disproportionately expensive. I’m delighted with it and given it 5 stars because it’s great value.
Cracking service and fast delivery! This eyepiece was my first 2 inch eyepiece in my collection. After a good few days of terrible weather i have finally put it in to good use. I use a skywatcher skyliner 250px and this eyepiece was fantastic! Due to the moon nearing full i was limited to the objects i wanted to see. But it effortless produced clear images of the Perseus double cluster, Pleiades, M36, M37, M38 and NGC 7789. I was pleasantly surprised that all of these objects fit easily in my eyepiece, where often they are over crowded in the 1.25 eyepieces. A bonus was that i could see andromeda galaxy and the M15 globular cluster when usually at this stage in the moons luminosity they are unseen by a 1.25. I look forward to the dark night period when i can really test the piece out. I hope this can help if anybody looks in to purchasing this product, then i fully recommend it!
This was bought to provide a wide angle view on a telescope of 1000mm focal length without giving the very large exit pupil that would have resulted from using a longer focus 1.25" eyepiece to get a similar field. There is pincushion distortion, but I don't find this to be a great problem for visual use, and some chromatic aberration in the outer parts of the field on contrasty edges. However, the centre of the image has no obvious faults, and at only £64, I think the performance is quite acceptable.
I’m no expert, but at 77 I can’t imagine wanting to have anything better than this! Excellent optics with great field of view.
