StellaLyra 18mm Ultra Flat Field 1.25" Eyepiece

The 18mm StellaLyra Ultra Flat Field eyepiece provides a wide 65-degree FOV and excellent field curvature correction so stars are pin-sharp across the entire visible field, even in fast optical systems.

All Ultra Flat eyepieces have fully multicoated optics and blackened lens edges for high light transmission and contrast. The colour correction is excellent.

They also have generous eye-relief so are comfortable for use even when wearing spectacles and a foldable rubber eyecup provides comfort and prevents glare from stray light.

Another excellent (and versatile) UFF eyepiece

I realise most FLO readers here will be astronomers (as I am), but this eyepiece was destined for a different role than viewing the stars...
My 1800fl Maksutov normally uses 2" eyepieces of around 70˚ FOV (I already have a 30mm UFF from StellaLyra which delivers exceptional views), but I needed a low-power, wide-field eyepiece for my ornitho. spotting scope to replace a poor, dim and indifferent zoom. This 1.25" 18mm eyepiece in a 400fl scope on the mudflats in Galloway covers all bases - colour rendition, resolution and a flat field are very good indeed - at a fraction of the price of Swaro/Zeiss contenders. I've no doubts about this eyepiece's performance with longer focal lengths for astronomy. Eye relief is comfortable and its optical/body mass certainly inspires excellent seeing. Another worthy ocular.
