About this product
Model: omegon_70825
Part Number: 70825
Omegon Mount MiniTrack LX3 with a simple polar finder tube (instead of the more expensive optical polar finder).
The Omegon MiniTrack LX3 is a compact photography mount that almost guarantees good astrophotos when used with a camera and wide-angle or lightweight telephoto lens.
The MiniTrack LX2 was already an accomplished mount, but the new MiniTrack LX3 has 60% higher tracking accuracy.
Moreover, the MiniTrack LX3 still does this without electricity. It is a purely mechanical mount. No batteries and no cables.
The advantages in a nutshell
- Take pictures of the night sky from anywhere in the Northern hemisphere
- Never needs charging - works via clockwork, so no batteries, power sockets or cables
- Wind-up the spring by pulling the cord - the mount then operates for sixty minutes
- Suitable for use with lenses up to around 300mm
The Specific Advantages of the LX3
- Higher load-bearing capacity so it can carry cameras and equipment with up to 3 kg weight.
- Large Teflon bush ensures softer and more fluent motion
- A stronger suspension system cushions or accelerates motions
- CNC machined aluminium body for strength and rigidity
- Optical polar finder for precise adjustment to the celestial pole
Better astronomy photos
Don't just bring holiday photos back home from your trip; make stunning astronomy photos too. All you need is a tripod, the MiniTrack mount, a ball-head and your camera.
60 minutes of mechanical tracking
The MiniTrack has a precision clockwork movement that accurately tracks the night sky. Wind-up the MiniTrack with its cord, like an analogue clock, and you're ready for 60 minutes of tracking. This mount will never flag, even in freezing conditions, and can handle lenses up to around 300mm focal length.
Advanced suspension system
The MiniTrack LX3 does not have a counterweight but features a suspension system that works like one. This makes the MiniTrack extraordinarily compact, so an excellent choice for travel. The improved suspension system will support your camera, even under one-sided strain, and will cushion or accelerate the tracking system.
Tip: Optimum tracking speed is achieved when the clockwork ticks 130-135 times per minute. The spring can be tensioned to match the weight of your camera. The ticks per minute can be measured using a 'TapTempo-App BPM' for smartphones. These apps are used in the field of music to measure the tempo of a composition automatically. They can also be used to measure the speed of the MiniTrack.
Teflon bush
A large Teflon bush ensures an exceptionally smooth camera tracking motion.
CNC casing
Don't worry if your mount has to endure adverse conditions. The CNC-machined aluminium body will still look good after several years of use.
More load capacity
The MiniTrack will now support camera rigs of up to 3 kg yet remains almost as small, lightweight and portable as before.
Find & align the celestial pole
Find and align the celestial pole using the polar finder tube.
Fits onto every tripod
The MiniTrack has two connectors - one for the tripod and another for your camera or ball-head. Attach the mount to your tripod using the usual 1/4" screw, then align the MiniTrack as you like. Alternatively, mount a ball head with the 1/4" or 3/8" thread.
