I have found myself using my AZ-EQ5 with the hand set far more often, so I figured that I should try this to simplify the hand set initialisation. It works far more quickly than I had been primed by reviews to expect, and seems pretty accurate.

Brilliant bit of kit, you just plug it into the base of the snyscan handset and it does the rest for you. It automatically inputs your location and all the other information for you, saves alot of time and is an invaluable item to have in you astronomy kit. We'll worth the money it cost. I just bought this i did have doubts i went outside i did get a fix the time and date were correct if you have trouble knowing your location get a GPS Mouse for your Synscan Handset i'm glad i did

I considered whether a GPS a was really necessary for my Skywatcher Dobsonian but as it had the SynScan handset it was increasingly a sensible purchase for me. Reviews stated it could be a long time setting itself up on first use, but, less than a minute and location found. No more faffing about with lat longs, it is literally a plug and play.
My hand set is a V5 and already had the required software level to use straight from the box, but some may not so be prepared to update the Synscan handset.

A very nice piece of kit. It saves a fair bit of time looking for the coordinates and at your watch in the dark. What's more if any of your friends are nearby with a SW mount you can pass it onto them to use for the initial setup!

Bought this on a whim with the syncsan eq5 goto upgrade kit. Worked flawlessly. Maybe a little pricey. Reallly it is plug in, turn on,....and it works. Can't test it inside as it requires satellite line of sight.

I've had this for what must be two years now. Used across my four Skywatcher Synscan driven mounts and a friend's mount also. Particularly good for changing locations obviously, but even if you are only ever in one fixed location, you can still benefit from the accuracy of GPS time and date input. Whilst I justified the cost on the basis of sharing across mounts, now I would be very happy buying it again if I only had one mount and was constantly changing location.
