Model: ae_2_foc_newt_v2Part Number: Q229M-BN-V2
This low profile CNC machined 10:1 dual-speed Crayford focuser replaces the regular focuser fitted to Skywatcher, Celestron and Orion Optics Newtonian telescopes.
Suitable for apertures 8-12 inches (tube diameters 9-15 inches).
Features
The low profile 24mm drawtube is perfect for astrophotography and includes 2 x 15mm drawtube extensions, suitable for visual astronomy, even when using long focal length 2" eyepieces!
Accepts 1.25" or 2" eyepieces and grips them securely without marring their nosepiece.
Excellent Service from FLO. I barely ever used a Barlow or higher powered eyepiece with my stock Orion focuser because the frustration involved was too great. The replacement is rock-solid, smooth and precise, totally transforming the experience. A couple of things to note:- it was not a like-for-like fit on my circa 2010 Orion 8" dobsonian, I needed to drill 4 new holes to mount it, though this was not difficult with care- I needed a 3" (1.25" extension tube to achieve focus. With the tube protruding 65-70mm from the focuser, my 24mm and 9mm eyepieces (including with 2x Barlow) can be focused withing the range of adjustment of the focuser.
Fits skywatcher 250p and I have to say I can can now stack every barlow lens and still focus!!!! Yeah stack all my lens!! x10!! Magnification!! bonkers!! The fine adjuster is top notch no slack. There is abit of light leak but nothing a strip of tape can't fix
This V2 Low-Profile Focuser replaced the single speed focuser on my Skywatcher 200p. A direct replacement, it was much more centred within the tube than the original part and no need to buy additional screws required to fit. This comes with accessories for use with an Eye Piece, DSLR or dedicated Astro cam. The 1.25 adaptor is quite a snug fit when using an eye piece but I'd rather that than it be too loose. The dual-speed action is very smooth and the unit feels of very good quality. There are some potential gaps around the moving inner tube for light to creep in, but this is easily fixed by adding some 5mm neoprene strips around the edges. There is absolutely no movement when loaded with a heavy DSLR/Astro cam which I am very happy with and would definitely recommend as an upgrade.
I bought this to replace the standard focuser on a 1-year-old Skywatcher 200p - The holes line up perfectly to use the existing screws & bolts to fit it. There are gaps on each side where the focuser mount meets the tube but these were easily plugged using some offcuts of the sponge packaging material. The focuser itself is outstanding in build and quality - a huge improvement on the standard Skywatcher focuser - fine focusing, along with a Stella Lyra 5mm planetary eyepiece and I have Jupiter bright and clear with the bands clear, and Jupiter's moons clear and in focus.
The focuser's hole centre spacings are 85 mm wide, 80 mm deep, and 120 mm over the diagonal. So yes, it should fit nicely :-)
It is 65mm tall when racked all the way in.
