As others have said, this item is virtually essential when doing the Rowan Astronomy upgrade. So it would have been better if they had included it in the kit! It is purpose-built for the job of removing the pinion gear from its shaft and does the job in moments with no risk of slippage as the pinion is tightly held within the body of the tool. The only alternative would be to buy a gear puller designed for model cars etc, of which there are several available at a lower price, but there is the uncertainty about whether they would do the job.

A must if you are removing the pinion for the Rowan belt upgrade. I used the 4mm. I think it should be made part of the Rowan kit as not sure how I would have removed it without it.

Not sure if I were able to extract the pinion without this tool. I got the 4mm for my Sirius. Works like a charm!
