Model: sw_quattro_150pPart Number: 10248
Manufacturer' description:
The new QUATTRO-150P, with it's fast f/4 focal ratio, has been specially designed for high-quality astrophotography with short exposure times and is also a fine telescope for visual observations.
Supplied with a modified M48 Aplanatic Super Coma Corrector (four elements, including one ED glass element) that reduces the focal ratio to a super-fast f3.45 (518mm).
Supplied with the same Crayford focuser as the other models in the Quattro range, which utilises four precision ball bearings to support the drawtube and provide great stability and zero image shift while supporting a heavy eyepiece or camera. Moving the drawtube by the roller rather than a rack and pinion ensures exceptionally smooth operation, great feel and precise adjustability. The dual-speed feature has a second focus knob with a 10:1 speed reduction to provide super-fine adjustments even the most demanding users can appreciate.
Note 1: The tube interior does not feature internal baffles like some other Quattro models.
Note 2: Eyepieces not supplied
The optics seems great, the focuser is the better one (as seen in some reviews), the only thing about this piece is it's hard for it to keep collimation. And for sone reason the kit didn't include the alllen keys needed for the adjustment of the secondary mirror.... Have no idea why.. seems to me like its a must have on this kit.Other then that, everything is perfect
I have had this scope for nearly a year now and only managed to start using it the way it should be used as an Imaging Astrograph. The spacing for the reducer which is supplied is a bit finnicky even when using a DSLR as coma is still visible in the corners even with a 55mm backspacing. I found it improves if you use a Low Profile T-Ring and add your own spacers. There is no image shift when tightening the focuser. The supplied Modified Aplanatic Super Coma Corrector is a Big Plus otherwise another £200+ to spend on a corrector. The stars are nice and tight when imaging with IMX294MC chip which seems to be a match made in heaven (excuse the pun). No extrusion into the light cone with the focuser drawtube. The collimation holds well throughout the night. Even though a carbon tube is available, I am in no rush to upgrade. We'll see how the collimation performs throughout the Winter months if I can bear the cold!
A really good telescope for the price! It includes almost everything you need to use it. The overall quality is more than enough for your money, the optics are good and the focuser feels soft and with no tilt. This is a good alternative to the more popular and a lot more expensive refractors. As with all Newtonian telescopes you must check the alignment and collimation for the focuser, primary and secondary mirror before you use it the first time (cheshire or laser Collimator needed), this might look difficult at first, but it is easy and once you do it a few times, it becomes a fast routine. Also, it has some light leaks near the primary mirror so check that too. Despite these minor details I would recommend this telescope because of its great value, mainly for intermediate or advanced users.By the way, thanks again to FLO for the amazing service, they answered all my questions and the telescope arrived to Mexico in just 4 days!!Un muy buen telescopio por precio!.
I’ve only managed to get out and use this telescope once due to the poor weather in the UK. I thought I would test its capabilities on the M31 Andromeda, always a good deep-sky target to practice on. I must admit for only 1 hour 30 minutes of integration time using an old Canon 700d camera (This telescope with coma corrector has a max sensor size limit of APS-C without star warping) I was pretty much blown away by the results, this is what I’ve managed to get so far http://lunartool.co.uk/stuff/M31-17092022.jpg F3.45 at that price isn’t bad. I’ve used Newton’s before but never really bothered with collimation. I did add bobs knobs to the telescope to help but after watching and reading a few guides on collimation only takes me a few minutes to get it spot on, I really wouldn’t let collimation put you off, it isn’t that bad. If you want a lightweight fast telescope for pulling data down quickly then this is a must-have.
