Are some fixings missing? 05 March 2024 | Simon
I have just received my Pier Adapter, swift service by FLO as usual.
I went to mount is on the pier and in the bag of fixings there are three long bolts that seat in the adapter plate and are the correct length to fit though the top plate of my pier. What do not seem to be there are any washers or nuts for these bolts. I have to say for the cost of this item I was expecting that all the required fixing to be included and it not be assumed that the pier would have threaded inserts. Should the fixing kit have included the corresponding nuts and washers? If they are not meant to be included please can you tell me what size and thread these nuts should be?
Response:
The Pulsar pier adapter is primarily designed for use with the Pulsar pier so the fixings supplied are to attach the pier adapter to the pier.
The bolts supplied are M8.

Nice solid piece of machining giving a perfect fit for an EQ6.

The issue I have with this unit is the AzQ6R mount I have cannot for snuggly into the plate. The bolt, despite being firmly screwed, moves in the shaft which means the whole mount can rock back and forth. Very disappointed. I bout it last year and just put up with it but having moved home and dismantled my observatory etc I’m worried about putting it all back together as I can’t seem to see how to get it stable.
Response:
Please send us some pictures or videos of this please as it's not an issue we have ever seen before with the pier adapters and the AZ-EQ6r. We can take a look and advise.
Some things to check though, the mount should sit down snugly into one of the recesses on the pier adapter plate. Make sure you have the plate the correct size up as the recesss is different each side to suit different mounts. When in the recess it should already be such a tight fit that it won't allow any movement, the bolt then just holds it all together.
Also check you have a bolt the correct length so that it doesn't bottom out before tightening everything down.

At first, this seems to be a lot of money for a bit of aluminium! However, it is a beautifully engineered substantial piece of aluminium that fits my EQ6R pro mount exactly, and fits the pier top exactly. Well worth the price.
