Model: SW_UHC_filter-1Part Number: 20195
The narrowband UHC filter, like the O-III filter, isolates the two doubly ionized oxygen lines (496 and 501nm) in addition to the hydrogen-beta line (486nm) emitted by planetary and most emission nebulae.
The UHC filter permits superb views of objects like the Orion, Lagoon, Swan and other extended nebulae. It performs well in smaller aperture instruments owing to its greater light transmission than the O-III, yet still suppresses light pollution well.
The UHC filter is the best all-round dark-sky nebula filter.
Gave the Orion nebula much more contrast from my Bortle 5 skies and allowed me to pick out more detail in its brighter parts when used for visual. Will most likely also give decent results in skies with more light pollution and/or imaging.
This filter does give a brighter view than an o111 but there is one thing worth checking when buying one,the foam in the case on mine put small circular screatches on the surface of the filter, this was due to the filter being sqeezed down into the fom when the top was screwed down, the fix is easy, just trim out the centre portion of the foam,i have an orion 2in moon filter and they cut the foam around the perifery, this holds it centrally without the pressure on the glass surface, maybe on this sort of filter its not so important but on a uhc or o111 surface marking is not a good idea.
