Canon EOS RPa astro-modified Mirrorless Camera
FLO now offers astro-modified Canon DSLR and Mirrorless Cameras suitable for Astrophotography.
Cameras supplied by FLO are refurbished by TKAstroservice and meet their Excellent condition criteria, which means that each camera is in excellent overall condition with minimal signs of wear and a shutter count of under 30,000.
Each camera is supplied boxed with a Battery, Charger, and Charging Cable. In addition, a removable viewfinder cover prevents light from leaking onto the sensor.
The Box includes a QR Code for downloading the instruction manual.
The Astro Modification increases the camera's sensitivity in the near-infrared range. In particular, the camera is significantly more sensitive to the H-alpha wavelength of 656.28nm, which plays a very important role in astrophotography and for imaging emission nebulae.
During the conversion, the so-called low-pass filter two is removed without replacement. Since this filter has a different refractive index to air, the position of the sensor must be adjusted for a correct flange focal distance. To do this, the sensor is correctly adjusted to approx. +-0.01mm using precision tools. This means that the autofocus is retained after the modification, and it is guaranteed that you can focus on infinity with all lenses, which is a common problem with DIY conversions. The precision tools also ensure that the sensor is not tilted after the conversion - this is essential for a sharp image right into the corners.
As the low-pass filter one is not removed, automatic sensor cleaning is retained with this modification.
Each camera includes a 1 Year Warranty.
Can the camera also be used during the day?
Images have a reddish tint because the low-pass filter two has been removed. This can be corrected in the camera with a manual white balance or via post-processing in the RAW file format on the PC. However, this is cumbersome and does not always work perfectly, so there is the option to fit a so-called OWB (Original White Balance) clip filter, which restores the function of the Lowpass Filter two.
