New Sky-Watcher SkyMax-127 with AZ5 Deluxe Mount - Ideal for Grab-and-Go!
A telescope for visual Astronomy and daytime terrestrial observations.
The compact but powerful Skymax-127 features high-contrast, high-resolution Maksutov-Cassegrain optics and high-transmission multi-coatings on all optical surfaces for optimum performance - well suited to observing planets, the lunar surface, globular star clusters, galaxies and more.
Includes an erect-image diagonal for upright, fully corrected views, enabling the telescope to also be used for terrestrial observing.
The easy-to-use Alt-Az mount is constructed from cast aluminium and includes an aluminium tripod that can be extended and clamped in any position via integral leg locks.
It is supplied with two flexible slow-motion cables, one for vertical and one for horizontal, for smooth, precise control. It can also be moved manually around each axis for rapid panning and elevation adjustments.

Great Product, Great Service 10 December 2023 | Gareth
In the space of a week First Light Optics were able to get the product delivered to the Middle East from the UK, packaging was perfect telescope and Eye Pieces were well protected and in perfect condition. Telescope were worked a charm and on the Families first viewing we had stunning views of Jupiter and Saturn. Optics were fantastic considering the reasonable cost, I was surprised on how robust the mount actually was and the quality of the supplied eye pieces. The team at FLO provided a great service and will be using them again very shortly

I underwent a lengthy medical procedure last summer in downtown Seattle and picked up a 90mm Mak to pass the time. I was astounded that I was able to see the rings of Jupiter from inside the room I was staying in. Graham Jenham has a nice series of videos on youtube covering the Skywatcher 127. I live above latitude 64, so grab and go is the order of the day outside of the shoulder seasons. Cold weather is hard on goto systems.
My compliments to FLO.....the package arrived early in perfect condition. No dark skies for a while, but I've used this for terrestrial purposes. The mount is very good and the good folks at Astronomy and Nature TV (youtube) have a very good overview on the AZ5

As a novice astronomer I started out with a Sky-Watcher StarTravel-120, but decided to 'supplement' it with this scope for improved planetary observation. I have not been disappointed - this scope provides excellent views of Jupiter, Saturn, and more recently Mars (including the polar ice caps) - a notable improvement over the 120. Neptune and Uranus are still too small to see any detail, even x214 magnification with a 7mm EP (irrespective of he 'seeing' conditions). The more visible deep sky objects also look good. On the downside the higher magnification limits the FOV for larger objects, so for example Andromeda will not wholly fit in the scope - hence why I'll still be keeping the 120. The AZ5 mount is excellent (the slow motion controls are great), but the tripod is a little lightweight. The overall package is 'great for a grab and go' trip to dark skies in the car, or in the back garden. I removed 1 star because:
a) The supplied AZ5 tripod is a little wobbly, but probably not enough to justify replacing it just yet
b) Focus can be a challenge at high magnification. A dual speed focuser would be nice here!
c) There is no dew shield supplied, or available as an accessory
