Deep Sky Dad Flat Panel for ASKAR PHQ107 Telescope.

Making flats can be cumbersome, especially if not part of an automated routine. The DAD flap panel makes making flat frames a lot easier.

While you image, the flap panel is tucked neatly alongside the refractor tube. When you finish, flip it into place and turn on the dimmable LED light.

You can adjust brightness according to your camera responsiveness/gain settings and filters.

For those operating in high humidity conditions, the DAD can also be purchased with an integral heater, to keep dew at bay.

DeepSkyDad New Version FP2 Motorized Flat Panel
21 February 2025  |

The DeepSkyDad FP2 motorized flat panel is a well-crafted, professional-grade upgrade from the previous FP1 version. It looks great, functions smoothly, and features a stronger motor than its predecessor.
I am using the FP2 with my remotely controlled Sky-Watcher Esprit 120, and the installation process was simple and straightforward. Controlling it via ASIAIR is seamless when using the dedicated DeepSkyDad ASIAIR control cable, which must be purchased separately.
The panel is securely held in place by strong magnets when covering the telescope’s front opening. When opened, it is firmly attracted to a magnet on the motor housing, ensuring stability while capturing light frames. The motor operates smoothly throughout its range of motion, opening and closing reliably.
In terms of design, the FP2 is an excellent improvement over the FP1. It is well-constructed, professional-looking, and affordably priced. The overall build quality is impressive, and it integrates seamlessly into my remote-controlled setup.
DeepSkyDad has done an outstanding job with this new version, and I highly recommend the FP2 motorized flat panel to astrophotographers looking for a reliable and efficient solution.
A big thank you to FLO for their excellent service and to DeepSkyDad for their great advice and support!
