There's a saying in the world of cycling about choosing a new bicycle: 'light, strong, cheap - choose two'. That is, it's not possible to buy or indeed build a bike with all three characteristics. It's much the same with tripods I think - this Berlebach tripod is light and strong/sturdy, but it ain't cheap! However, having used it for the first time recently, I'm of the opinion that it is worth every penny. It is light enough to carry outside with mount and scope attached, it is sturdy in use and dampens movement in a couple of seconds, and finally is beautifully made. Highly recommended.

I bought this to carry my Starfield 102ED scope and a SW AZ GTiX mount, which it does with ease. I particularly like the gradations on the legs, making it possible to achieve a level position easily and its vibration damping. Plus I think it looks gorgeous (mine is the natural wood version).
