We have been looking for a reliable source of USB cables for some time and the Lindy CROMO range, already popular among astronomers fits the bill. It's not your run-of-the-mill cheap USB cable but a well made, quality cable that will last you years!
The CROMO USB 2.0 Cables use the highest grade components, with precision finishing, to deliver flawless performance.
Fully compliant with the USB 2.0 specification and capable of data transfer rates of up to 480 Mbps these cables benefit from upgraded copper conductors, double shielding and gold plated contacts to give you ultimate reliability.
Note: Lindy are currently changing the design / colours of their cables so you may receive the old or newer design. The specification of the cable is the same the only change is the colour and logo style.
Lynx Heavy Duty Cable, Some USB Leads and Bobs Knobs delivered well packed and fast from the UK to Caves Beach NSW in 7 days flat. Very impressed indeed
Received these yesterday and as it was a clear night (sorry, wrong sticker guys) I got them a try (3 cables in total)Very pleased with improved cable management and everything worked seamlessly 🙂
I've got a couple of different cables from the CROMO lineup which I've used with various pieces of ZWO equipment (ASI533, ASI120MM, ASI290MM, EAF) and they have all worked perfectly fine, fit into the USB ports nice and securely without any reliability concerns. They come in a variety of sizes which give you flexibility in choosing the right cable length for your application.I have a 120mm refractor and my ASI Air sits in a vixen finder shoe on the focus drawtube, which is connected to my ASI533 camera via a 1m CROMO cable. Unfortunately, 1m is too long for my setup but 0.5m is too short, so I went for the 1m length instead. When I try to bundle cables together for better cable management I found that the stiffness of the cable was exerting pressure on the USB ports of my devices. This resulted in me removing the cable tidy and leaving each cable hang independently of each other. This produces more opportunities for snagging or catching on things but if you're careful enough, you can mitigate this slightly (I loop my cable around and velcro tie the loop to my camera). It would be great if they used a more flexible outer cladding to prevent undue stress on USB ports.
This is a good quality USB cable that provides reliable control of a SynScan AZ GOTO mount from a laptop over 5m of cable. Just be aware that the USB Type B connector is different (and incompatible) between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0!
Excellent short cables which I am using to connect devices to a USB & power hub.. Connectors good quality and secure. With me within 24 hours of purchasing.
