Optical Bench Test

At FLO, we check all our Askar telescopes on an optical bench before dispatch.

So you can be confident your telescope will have well-figured optics, negligible false colour and spherical aberration, and no astigmatism (the bane of any optical system!). Star shapes will be round, not triangular, oval or egg-shaped!

Features a quintuplet (5 lens elements) optical design with two ED glasses that covers full-frame sensors, without an additional screw-on field flattener.

The f6.4 focal ratio and 65mm aperture make the 65PHQ an excellent telescope for use with portable astronomy mounts.

Though designed primarily for astrophotography, when used for visual astronomy, the 65PHQ also provides wonderful views of the moon, star clusters, brighter nebulae, Jupiter's moons and even some distant galaxies.

Sturdy 2.5” 360° rotatable focuser with scales and finder base.

M68, M54, and M48 camera adapters are also included.

The M48 adapter has a 2” female thread for installing filters.

CNC machined and body with telescopic dew shield.

The OTA weighs 2kg, and the complete package with tube rings weighs 2.8kg.

Worth every penny

I purchased my latest Telescope from FLO, I also have to say when I emailed Steve at FLO, he was extremely helpful as far as I can see, there is no better place than FLO to buy and get advise about astronomical items.
The Askar 65PHQ was my first telescope I've had with such clarity and round stars right out of the box even the corner stars were perfectly round. No messing about with backspace. The focuser is buttery smooth and solid compared to my other refractors the telescope comes with a 300mm dovetail plate, so it is easy to balance.
The dew shield has a locking nut so that it will stay out when you place your light panel on top for flats. This may be a bit expensive as a first telescope, but if I was starting out on astrophotography for the first time it would be worth the extra just for the ease in setting up.
The only negative I found with this telescope is it should have come with two finder shoes. As I use an Asiair and didn't want to use the handle I mounted a flat bottom ZWO finder shoe on the tube rings with a little modification to the shoe. Overall, I'm delighted with this telescope and can highly recommend it.
