You can now directly connect the EAF to your camera, laptop or ASIAIR PRO via the USB 2.0 port & cable for both data transmission and power supply. This makes cable management easier and reduces power requirements.
Please note not all models from the brands above are supported.

I bought this for my 72ed, it arrived last Friday, and fortunately I was out that night with it fitted and set up, and what a difference it made to the resulting image. The stars were pin point focused, and the image seemed much clearer overall. Fitting and setting it up on the ASIAIR was simple, and the time taken to focus was much faster than I expected. Definitely a good purchase imo. Big shout out to FLO for its usual fast and efficient processing of my order, and of course DPD for getting it to me the next afternoon.
ZWO EAF on a bespoke focuser 19 September 2024 | Stephen
I purchased these at the IAS (10% discount, thank you FLO) to fit to my Esprit 150 refractors. The focuser already had a 50:1 reduction system built in to accommodate the previous stepper motor/control unit installed, so I needed a big step size (2000) to move the focuser the required amount. The ZWO EAF only has a total of 60000 steps so it means the focus point needs to be almost spot on to avoid running out of travel. The auto focus operation also takes quite a time to complete (5 mins) which eats into the overall imaging session so at some point some of the gear reduction will need to be engineered out of the unit. But the EAFs connect and operate 100% reliably which has eliminated all of the frustration I was experiencing with the old units.
Does what it says on the tin 18 September 2024 | Neil
Bought this because I kept forgetting to tweak the focus every 1/2 hour, and this was normally necessary to keep my images sharp. This works seamlessly with the ASIAIR+, and when I checked the results with a Bahtinov mask the focus was perfect. Just set it to focus at fixed time intervals and forget it.
Very clear instructions from FLO made fitting it to my refractor very straightforward.

I'm glad I bought this auto focuser. I have spent many nights with a bahtinov mask looking closely at the diffraction spikes trying to decide if it's spot on or not. The autofocuser takes all that away.
It's a breeze to set up and now it's all done by itself using the asi air.
Also great service from FLO as usual.
Highly recommended.

I always wanted to get an auto-focuser. The ZWO EAF is machined so well! The installation was very straight-forward, though I had to look up online how to remove my telescope's focuser knob and attach the EAF to it. I didn't get the remote control nor the temperature sensor. The focuser works very well, and I can use my capture software to automatically focus at regular intervals. However, I would have appreciated a lever that disengages the motor temporarily, so that one may move the focuser without controlling it via USB.

Fitted to my 1998 C8. (see bracket review) 20 July 2024 | Robert
Fitted and set up in NINA constantly monitoring images and refocusing as necessary. Working very well. I only wish I had purchased one sooner. Thanks to FLO for your usual great service and speedy delivery.

I bought this primarily to automate my new portable setup comprising a StellaMira 80mm ED 'scope, ZWO ASi 120 MM guide camera and ASi 585 MC main camera - all ordered from FLO after much discussion with Alex and delivered super fast and super safe, thanks.
How to fit this EAF isn't listed on the ZWO support website which almost stopped me buying it. Some simple guidance from Alex, who pointed out that the StellaMira I have is similar to one of the Williams Optics models, meant that it was a quick and easy job to fit the bracket although I did use a couple of files and here is how:
1 - I undid the outer grub screw under the focuser's coarse knob to expose an inner screw on the adjuster wheel that is accessible through that hole.
2 - I then pulled the coarse adjuster out without too much of a problem and was able to fit the smallest diameter flexible coupling onto the bare shaft before locking it down through the hole mentioned in 1 above with the smallest of the supplied hex wrenches.
3 - The bottom of my focuser includes a tension adjuster / lock knob which gets in the way of the bracket so I used a half-round file to remove some of the bracket until it nestled snugly against the tension / lock knob. When the EAF is fitted, this tensioner is not required as the EAF acts as a brake.
4 - There is an M4 screw hole very near to this knob and I aligned the central slot of the bracket with this hole and the smaller M3 hole that accesses the coupling in #1. That results in the bracket lying along the same axis as the adjuster axle. The central slot is too narrow to take an M4 screw so I eased that open with a flat needle file until the M4 screw could be fitted through it.
5 - I secured the bracket using an M4 socket head cap screw supplied in the kit in the middle screw hole and an M3 x 12mm screw and washer from my box of bits.
6 - I adjusted the perpendicular (motor) mount plate to shorten its offset and bring down the holes that align with the EAF motor using the supplied smaller hex wrench.
7 - I then secured the EAF to the bracket after inserting the shaft into the coupling and finally tightened the outer (exposed) flexible coupling grub screw onto the EAF's shaft.
Job done!
The EAF doesn't need a manual control pad if you're using it with the ASiStudio software, which I have on my iPad for use in the field.
Next thing for me will be to add a second bracket so I can swap the EAF onto my SkyWatcher Explorer 150P-DS if necessary - roll on some decent seeing opportunities.
Initially disappointing but now resolved 10 March 2024 | Sajjad
I bought this recently along with the Tak bracket for my Espirit 100 and it was delivered promptly by Flo as usual. I watched loads of videos on how to install the product and thought it would be a straight forward process. However, when installing I noticed that the spindles (none of them fit properly) would bind my focusser at certain points. I was frustrated for most of the day and by that evening I had given up and was thinking of returning the item.
The next day I thought, let me try installing it on my other scope (WO Z61). This took all of 10 minutes to do and it worked perfectly straight away. My first imaging run with the focusser installed was seamless and the auto focus routine was bang on, so I'm highly impressed.
I'd offer a word of caution if you're thinking of getting this for an espirit 100ed. Maybe I was doing something wrong with the installation but I got a Pegasus focuscube v3 a couple of days later and installed that on the espirit without a hitch within minutes.
Overall, if you're sure this will fit your scope I'd highly recommend it!
Well made and easy to fit 18 February 2024 | Matthew
Arrived next day as usual perfect service from flo and well packed, Can’t wait to use it when finally the sky's clear. Motor seems well made and if good quality all parts seem well made and was very easy to fit to my new scope. Will definitely be adding more to my other scopes for imaging. Plugged straight into asi airrecognises it and manually moved it in and out to test the movement and was perfectly smooth.
