Astrodymium Fine Adjustment Spacer Rings M48

This M48 set includes twelve individual spacer rings, comprising three of each thickness: 0.4/0.6/0.8/1.0 mm.

These rings slip over the thread of an adapter/extension tube and are primarily used for fine-tuning back focus for astrophotography, but they can also be used for other purposes.

The rings' width is 3.95 mm, and their inner diameter is 0.5mm larger than the specified size for good clearance on the threads (they will not become stuck and are easy to insert or remove).

Made out of UV-resistant PETG plastic that can handle up to 80C (176F) temperatures without deformation.

Well, these are plastic rings which look like they were printed on a 3D printer by a novice.
They are soft and flimsy and thicknesses are not marked in any way, so you will always be guessing what thickness you are using until you have a callipers.
For what they are, they should cost £2 tops, so they are terrible value for money product.
The most (and first) disappointing product I ever bought from FLO.

Response:

They are indeed made from plastic.

In Astrodymium's defence, they (and we) make this clear in our product description:

"Made out of UV resistant PETG plastic that can handle up to 80C (176F) temperatures without deformation.”

We like your suggestion of printing the spacer thickness into the material, though we are unsure how easy that would be with spacers this thin (the thinnest is only 0.4mm).

This popular product provides a convenient, effective and affordable solution and we have yet to see a single customer return (written Nov 2024).
