The most inconvenient thing about Hyperstar setups is their reliance on sub-mm precision and a proprietary thread from Starizona; this requires specific thread-on adapters for each camera backfocus which can only be bought from Starizona, and if you want a filter drawer (which you do) your options are in theory strictly limited to the ZWO and Starizona offerings..... but wait!

This adapter is nothing less than a near-zero length generic M48 adapter for Hyperstar 6/8 setups! This really should be included in every Hyperstar package in my view, because it enables the connection of ANY filter drawer or rotator with an absolute bare-minimal optical length. I would go so far as to say, M48 should be the standard external thread for a Hyperstar from the factory.... but this adapter corrects that 'oversight'.

The piece is beautifully machined, all credit to Starizona here. The only downside is, it is extremely thin and fragile, a necessity due to the close tolerances between the Hyperstar external thread and M48... but once you have it installed, there's no reason to ever remove it. Match the ZWO filter drawer's backspace with high-precision spacers (I recommend Baader aluminium rings, not plastic ones) and you are in business.

Recommend as a day one purchase for any Hyperstar buyer. Only dropping one star because.... come on Starizona. You know this should have been the default!
