About this product

Model:  SW150PLota
Part Number:  10949

Reduced price available while stocks last.

This version of the popular Explorer 150P has a longer tube length to achieve higher magnification and contrast - properties that will appeal to planetary and lunar enthusiasts.

"Many contemporary observers severely underestimate what a quality telescope of this size is capable of revealing.

The fit and finish of the Explorer-150PL is typical of Sky-Watchers contemporary products - in other words, extremely good for the money. The rigid yet lightweight rolled steel tube has an unobtrusive seam and the gorgeous slightly metallic sky blue paint finish contrasts nicely with the rounded black tube end castings.

M13, the great Hercules globular cluster, was a magnificent sight despite urban light pollution with resolved components across the core with innumerable peripheral stars. Verdict: a reborn classic that I can't recommend highly enough for the price.."

SW150PL

This is my first foray into the hobby and after some (read lots) of reading I decided to plum for this scope.

I have not been disappointed. The weather has prevented me using this more than a couple of times thus far, but the use I have had out of it has made me very happy with my purchase.

Firstly, it looks like an impressive bit of kit. I know that isn't too priority here but definitely thought it worth a mention. The finderscope was a doddle to attached and align, and balancing the tube was easy too. I have paired this with a SW EQ3-2 mount.

The eye pieces seem decent, and the inclusion of a Barlow essentially doubles the number of eyepieces you have, giving you a good range to play with. It has arrived reasonably well collimated, but I will be checking it more thoroughly as time progresses in this regard.

So far I have had stunning views of Jupiter and the four Galilean moons, and a handful of star clusters which all look breathtaking. As my experience grows and opportunity presents itself I cannot wait to push this scope as far as I can, and I foresee it being able to do everything I want it to.

It arrived promptly and well packaged from FLO.

A good scope for the money which is great for planetary observing as well as some DSO’s. It arrived reasonably well collimated. Unfortunately I’m still waiting for the clouds to subside to put it to proper use. Top service from FLO again.

Outstanding results on small targets

My 150Pl was my first serious telescope. It is an amazing scope at high magnification on the planets, the first time I looked at Jupiter I saw the red spot and a moon shadow creeping across its surface. It's easily capable of showing the Cassini division on Saturn. Also a stunning way to observe the moon.

It comes into its own for astrophotography. I use it on an HEQ5 and it is great for smaller targets like galaxies and planetary nebulas. Where it really shines is on planetary imaging, I use it with an x3 barlow and an ADC and just get better results each year. TO step up from this means a large SCT which is a big jump in cost.
