TS Collimation Adjustment Telescope for Ritchey Chretien, Cassegrain and Dall Kirkham Instruments

This is a collimation aid that allows you to accurately collimate your Ritchey Chretien, Cassegrain, Dall Kirkham (Mewlon) or Refractor quickly and easily.

With many collimation adjustment aids, it is difficult to identify the individual elements that can be seen when looking into the telescope. This makes targeted adjustment difficult and the adjustment complex and inaccurate.

With the TS Adjustment Telescope, these problems are a thing of the past: With sliding focusing, you focus on the element to be adjusted (e.g. secondary mirror) and are not distracted by the other components or reflections.

The integrated lighting, which has a 12V barrel plug connection and brightness adjustment, allows the telescope to be adjusted even in a bright environment.

Features

  • T2 thread on the telescope side; Adapters for M90 and M117 are available
  • 1.25" eyepiece clamp and T2 thread on the eyepiece side
  • A camera can be plugged in or screwed on
  • Insertion of an adjustment laser possible
  • Suitable for adjusting refractors
  • In order to be able to focus on the lens with short focal length refractors, the adjusting telescope can be extended with ordinary T2 sleeves.
  • Two eyepieces are included.
  • The included eyepieces can also be used for observation.
  • Adapters available for M90 and M117
  • The secondary mirror must have a central marking
  • Integrated lighting with brightness control
Using an Alignment Laser

Especially with RC telescopes, the axis of the focuser flange should first be set correctly. The frequently used method of only paying attention to the center mark of the secondary mirror can lead to poor adjustment.
A laser is used for this setting.

With other collimation aids you have to switch between laser and adjustment device. The laser, on the other hand, can be connected directly to the TS adjustment telescope.

Using a Camera

Instead of the eyepiece, a camera can be inserted into the 1.25" connection of the TS adjustment telescope. If you collimate your telescope without an eyepiece, i.e. with a directly screwed adjustment telescope, a camera must always be connected to the 1.25" clamp. because there must be a possibility of shifting in order to focus.

If you collimate with OAZ, you can also use the T2 thread to mount the camera. Depending on the focal length of the camera, one of the two T2 intermediate rings may have to be removed.
Adjusting smaller RC Telescopes

In RC telescopes of six and eight inch aperture, the circumferential light gap (gap between the blind tubes) is usually used to adjust the main mirror. In newer telescopes, this gap is no longer visible, which is why this adjustment reference is missing. Alternatively, the holders of the secondary mirror struts can be used; However, these are difficult to recognise, which makes the adjustment result inaccurate. With the TS adjustment telescope you can see these holders clearly enlarged and easily adjust the telescope.
Adjusting Refractors

Thanks to the bright integrated lighting, refractors can also be collimated. The different colours (depending on the coating) and different sizes of ring-shaped reflections on the surfaces can be highlighted or dampened using sliding focusing. Looking through the adjusting telescope into a misaligned two-lens refractor To adjust refractors with a short focal length, it may be necessary to expand the focus adjustment range of the adjusting telescope. Commercially available T2 extension sleeves can be used for this.

Adjusting the adjustment telescope? No!

The TS adjustment telescope has no parts that can be adjusted. Checking and adjusting is therefore not necessary.

Eyepieces for two magnifications

You can use the included eyepieces according to your requirements with the adjustment telescope, but they can also be used for observation. In principle, any eyepiece that has a standard 1.25" filter thread on the body can be used in the adjustment telescope. However, we cannot guarantee that every combination will lead to a perfect collimation result.
