Model: bu_pmm_sw200Part Number: BU2022-006
CNC milled aperture ring made of matt black anodised aluminium (EN AW-6061), suitable for Skywatcher 200p, 200pDS and 8" Quattro telescopes.
This precisely manufactured aperture ring, for mounting on the primary mirror, reliably covers the mirror brackets and the outer area of the primary mirror, thus helping to avoid unwanted diffraction effects caused by the brackets and a sloping mirror edge.
A 2mm chamfer in the inner ring minimises unwanted residual reflections on the primary mirror from the inner edge of the aperture.
I bought this as I had seen positive reviews. I had for some time been contemplating buying a new scope, but I decided to buy some upgrades instead, due to the headache of buying a longer focal length that would have been created.I've yet to be able to fully test it, as the clouds made an appearance. However, from the test shots I did manage, there is a marked improvement on the star formation. Additionally, the collimation of the primary is now much quick and easier. Given it's price, I feel this is a great upgrade as part of your setup.
I bought this for my Skywatcher 200PDS to improve the diffraction spikes. It comes with comprehensive instructions and was easy to fit. One the primary mirror is removed and the metal mirror clips, the rubber supports are trimmed back before installing the mask. The whole procedure took about 15 minutes and first results on Vega look really impressive.
