Great upgrade for Sky-Watcher refractor. 28 February 2024 | Richard
Bought this as an upgrade for my Sky-Watcher Star Travel 120.
A perfect fit out of the box without any need for sanding or force. Easy to change over with allen key/screw driver.
Well made and very smooth.
Very happy with this focuser.
First rate service from FLO as usual.

Wow what a well made solid piece of equipment so smooth to touch and focus with , a really great upgrade to my scope which is purely for observing only would highly recommend this focuser.

What a beautifully made piece of kit. The whole focuser exudes precision, and the generous 80mm of travel means all my eyepieces achieve focus. Only tools needed were a 3mm and a 2.5mm Allen key. If you have a 102mm scope, it fits easily into the 97mm diameter tube. If, like me, you have a 120mm telescope, there is a cast aluminium spacer ring with a liberal coating of diamond hard paint inside and out. I had a tremendous struggle removing the old focuser from this ring using prybars as the manufacturer had forced it in place. The only way of removing the paint from the inside surface of the adaptor was to grind it off with a rotary burr. My tip here is to remove the adaptor ring from the tube itself before grinding or you'll get paint and metal dust all over the rear lens element. If that happens, don't panic, the lens cell unscrews from the tube.
Straight swap for an old blue model SW 150 f8 focuser 20 July 2023 | Edward
A lovely tactile upgrade. Worth every penny.
I tried replacing the original R&P focuser which has "slippery runners" inside with the stock white focuser from a 120 Startravel and I found it worse - sticky grease inside.
This AA focuser is an utter delight by comparison.
I've fashioned an angle bracket so my Skywatcher electronic focuser can turn this focuser via the 4Tronix remote and it works great.
It uses a large gauge elastic band as a pully and I'm sure Astro Essentials could do better!
Chuffed to bits with this focuser and my "engineering" to repurpose my SW electric focuser.

Bought for a Skywatcher Startravel 120, wow what a difference! I had to take grind out a couple of mm to make it fit but it was so worth it.
This is a beautiful focuser and the quality is far and above what you pay for it. I highly recommend this focuser.
Astro Essentials refractor focuser - 2 speed 06 July 2023 | Sandra
as mentioned elsewhere quite a bit of paint to be removed from the Startravel 120 - fairly quick with a Dremel attachment - it all fits together nicely - only wish I had done this upgrade a few years ago when I used This telescope quite often - not only is it smooth and free of play but happy to say it has no problem holding a ZWO ASI2600 cooled camera and 5 position 2inch filter wheel.

An incredible difference in quality compared to the stock Skywatcher focuser. This should be the standard. It slides easily and holds the filter wheel and cmos cooled camera well. Installation in 20 min.
Very fast dispatch by Flo, really professional. Thank you for that.

This nice and well-made focuser goes nicely with my Orion 120ST refractor. I did had to shave or sand off by hand just a little bit inside the telescope's flange or rim where the focuser goes in and gets mounted on with its 3 screws. All was done within an hour and wasn't too difficult to do. One thing I didn't like, for 2" eyepieces, instead of one thumbscrew to secure the eyepieces in the holder, it should've included 2 thumbscrews. Luckily, the focuser's 2" eyepiece holder does have a second machined hole for adding an additional thumbscrew, but I don't know what's its correct size. Anyone know?

I have this week fitted this focuser to my Startravel 102t. The only problem I encountered was fitting this focuser into the tube. It required considerable sanding of the inside of tube using a Dremel type tool. However, the final fit was perfect and well worth the effort.
The difference between the stock focuser and this one is night and day, the action is smooth and precise. Some people say that why spend money on this relatively expensive upgrade when the 102t is so cheap. My answer would be that the 102t provides excellent widefield views and is excellent value for money, the addition of this upgrade is quite justified.
